PE Race USED Tailshaft
Perkins Engineering offers for sale a genuine race-used Perkins Engineering tailshaft, serial number PE#093.
Originally manufactured in August 1995, this tailshaft dates from the period of the Perkins Engineering VR Commodore program. Given its manufacture date, it was built prior to the 1995 Bathurst 1000 and therefore could potentially have been used in the 1995 Bathurst-winning #11 Commodore. However, there is no documentation available to confirm which particular chassis or event it was originally fitted to, and it is being sold without any claim or guarantee of that provenance.
What can be confirmed is that PE#093 is a genuine Perkins Engineering component dating from the mid-1990s and was subsequently returned to service during the VE Commodore era.
The tailshaft was later modified from its original VR/VS specification to suit a VE Commodore. As part of this conversion, the tailshaft length was altered and it was fitted with a billet aluminium Perkins Engineering-spec centre bearing floor mount. It therefore no longer suits a VR/VS Commodore in its current configuration.
The tailshaft has completed approximately 330 km since its most recent rebuild and VE-specification conversion.
